The European project REMADE has officially launched with a kick-off meeting held early-September at City St George\u2019s, University of London, the project coordinator. Funded by the European Union through the Horizon Europe program\u2014as part of the New European Bauhaus initiative\u2014and supported by CINEA (European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency), REMADE aims to drive a new approach for building renovation. It focuses on solutions that are more sustainable, efficient, and adaptable, designed to facilitate installation as well as future reconfiguration or disassembly.<\/p>\n

The project brings together 16 partners from 8 European countries, combining advanced materials, prefabricated construction solutions, and digital tools. In this context, Lurederra will develop nanocoatings with specific properties to be integrated into modular fa\u00e7ade elements and interior partitions. This work will use the Flame Spray Pyrolysis (FSP) technology to produce active nanomaterials, alongside several formulation and deposition strategies, such as spray coating. These developments will be integrated with other technologies contributed by partners, including phase-change materials (PCMs), advanced insulation, energy-efficient windows, and spectrally selective paints.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, REMADE includes partners specializing in modeling, BIM, and artificial intelligence who will develop the digital tools needed to design, optimize, and monitor renovation processes. All these solutions will be integrated and validated through four real-world demonstrators located in Spain, Slovenia, and Turkey: the Parc Taul\u00ed Hospital in Sabadell, an office building in Slovenia, and two facilities in the municipality of Konya, Turkey.<\/p>\n

The London kick-off meeting enabled partners to pool their capabilities, delve into the various workstreams, and\u2014crucially\u2014define next steps and begin coordinating the project’s initial activities. This marks the start of a three-year period of international collaboration aimed at advancing toward more efficient, sustainable, and adaptable building renovation.<\/p>\n
