May 2024 was the date when BEETHOVEN project was launched, an innovative initiative aimed at addressing one of the most critical challenges of the energy transition towards a more sustainable and digital future: the reliance on permanent magnets made from rare earth elements (REE) in key technologies such as wind turbines and electric motors. More specifically, this project explores different compositions as well as novel manufacturing strategies to find the best alternatives to traditional magnets.<\/p>\n

After the first six months of the project, a follow-up meeting took place on October 23rd at the Complutense University of Madrid, specifically at the Faculty of Physical Sciences. The event brought together project partners from 14 organizations across 10 countries to coordinate efforts and set the roadmap for the upcoming years of work, as this period marks the end of the activities related to the definition of parameters and requirements.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, the different work packages and key project activities were reviewed. Each work package leader detailed the initial progress made and presented the first activities carried out up-to-date, as well as the objectives for the next period. Additionally, the meeting served as a space for planning, ensuring a optimum sample exchange and efficient organization of testing and characterization. The partners were able to set specific tasks and coordinate their efforts to ensure the successful execution of the project.<\/p>\n
