Within the collaborative framework including funds from the European Commission, to achieve the global goals of the INNOVIP, the consortium includes technological centres, universities and companies of seven different European countries.<\/p>\n<p>One of the key innovations are the nanotechnology-based coatings with different functionalities. The development of those active formulations has been leaded by Lurederra, and after the continuous work for development and testing during more than 3 years of project, very implementable results have been obtained.<\/p>\n<p>Precisely, among the most remarkable properties achieved, it could be highlighted the EUROCLASS B qualification for flame retardancy, superhydrophobicity (&gt;140\u00ba) regarding condensed water, 50% purification of toxic volatiles, and reduction of 50% in the bacterial growth.<\/p>\n<p>Definitively, with the growing importance of energy efficiency, it is envisaged that the VIP market will continue increasing, and the incorporation of additional functionalities by specific nanocoatings enables aspects like durability without the increase in weight.
